One of the largest employers in Germany, Frankfurt Airport, directly advertised job vacancies looking for workers from Croatia, Greece and Bulgaria.

Frankfurt Airport, operated by the company Fraport AG which holds shares in about a dozen other airport facilities around the world, is one of Europe’s largest transport hubs, employing some 81,000 people. It is also the busiest airport in Germany, handling some 64.5 million passengers in 2017.

But despite being the biggest single place of work in Germany, the company is looking to expand its workforce further, and has turned to some EU labour markets where unemployment levels are chronically high.

“We want to speak directly to jobseekers in Greece, Bulgaria, and Croatia and ask them to come work for us,” Fraport’s Human Resources Manager, Michael Müller, told the DPA news agency.

Throughout April, Frankfurt Airport wants to attract workers with at least a basic understanding of German and English languages. Fraport said they were looking for both menial workers and professionals, and offer up to 30,000 gross annual salary, Dnevnik.hr reported on Wednesday.
