Employers in the tourist industry have signed a new collective agreement with unions of hospitality workers which will retain all the rights and obligations for both workers and employers, but will increase the lowest base salary, starting from April.
After a six-month negotiation, the new agreement was signed by the Croatian Employers Association
“Salaries have been increased by 10 percent, meaning that the new lowest gross salary agreed is 4,700 kuna (€634) for the most common jobs in the hospitality industry such as waiters, cooks, pastry cooks, receptionists, etc. This is the minimum salary base, excluding additional wages for working nights, on Sundays or holidays, as well as overtime, which are all additionally defined in the agreement,” said the Croatian Employers’ Association (HUP) on Wednesday.
Although the tourist and hospitality industry is increasingly popular with jobseekers in Croatia, the average net salary earned in the sector in the first three months of 2018 was estimated to be around 4,600 kuna (€620), or 18 percent lower than the overall national average, according to research released by MojaPlaca.hr salary tracking website earlier this month.
