Reducing VAT on restaurant and bar services to 10 percent, and the abolishing of the consumption tax on beverages will be the main goals of the Zagreb Association of Restaurateurs (UUZ) in the period from 2018 to 2022, the newly elected leader of the industry trade group said on Friday.
“The consumption tax (on beverages) that restaurants and bars pay for is from 2 to 3 percent, and in Zagreb it is currently at 2 percent, which is an extra burden for the hospitality industry that we feel should be scrapped. We will also ask for the recognised personal tax deductions to be increased to 5,000 kuna (€674), from the current 3,800 kuna (€512), and the lowering of the public utility fee coefficient from to 7 from 10. We will ask these changes to be put in the upcoming simplified real estate tax, and laws and regulations on all levels of government,” UUZ head, Franz Letica, said.
UUZ is the largest hospitality industry trade association in the country, with around 1,500 registered restaurateurs and bar owners in the Croatian capital, and represents the interests of 4,500 registered companies in the sector.
The association also said that colleagues from the rest of the country are increasingly turning to them to help them solve problems with legislation regulating the sector.
