Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William announced the name of the newborn Prince, after days of anticipation, as Prince Louis Arthur Charles.

He is the Royal couple’s third child and is the 5th in line to the British throne, after his grandfather Prince Charles, his father Prince William, and his two older siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

This is the first time in the history of the British Monarchy that a male child will not overtake his older sister in the line of succession, thanks to the Succession to the Crown Act of 2013, which stated that gender does not give precedence in determining the next monarch.

His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge was born on Monday, April 23, in St. Mary’s hospital in Paddington, London.
