Serbia wants to see the Agrokor company stabilized, Trade Minister Rasim Ljajic told Belgrade’s Prva TV on Wednesday.

“We have an interest in seeing the situation in Agrokor stabilized, primarily in Croatia, because that means the positive effect will spill over into Agrokor businesses in Serbia,” Ljajic said.

The Croatian-owned Agrokor corporation was placed under state-management in April 2017 and was ordered to reach a debt settlement agreement with its creditors by July 10.

Agrokor owns businesses across the Balkans, employing some 60,000 people but its assets are worth much less than its debts. Agrokor owns several companies in Serbia including Merkatora S, Dijamant, Frikom, MG Mivela, Kikindski Mlin and Nova Sloga which employ around 11,000 people.
