Croatian Bureau for Combating Corruption and Organised Crime (USKOK) on Friday dismissed the criminal complaint against police officers over the death of a six-year-old Afghan girl Madina Hussiny, who was killed by a train in November last year.

The girl died after being hit by a train near the border in eastern Croatia in November 2017, when, according to her mother, the police ignored the family’s claim for asylum in Croatia and forced them to walk back to Serbia. Her death prompted the family to sue unidentified members of the Croatian police through a legal team from Croatia.

Seven Afghan nationals filed a criminal complaint against unidentified border patrol police officers over several crimes committed on November 21 2017 near the Croatia-Serbia border pass when an underage Afghan girl died on Serbian territory.

Based on the results of inquiries during which relevant documentation was gathered and multiple persons questioned, it was not determined that the police officers would commit the acts. As a result, a decision was made to dismiss the complaint, the press release from USKOK said.
