Croatia Airlines posts record May passenger numbers

The national flag carrier, Croatia Airlines (CA), had almost 214,000 passengers in May 2018, a record figure for May in the history of the company, CA said in a press release on Monday.

The growth in passenger traffic was recorded in the January-May period as well. The airline transported more than 719,000 passengers in that period, which is a more than 6 percent increase compared to the same time in 2017.

The airline introduced two new destinations in 2018: the Bosnian city of Mostar as an all-year destination, and Dublin as a summer season destination. New seasonal lines Dubrovnik-Munich and Split-Copenhagen were added as well.

The press release added that, on top of introducing new lines, the number of flights on existing lines was increased as well. Four additional afternoon flights on the Zagreb-Skopje route were added in May, as well as additional weekly flights on the Zagreb-Dubrovnik-Rome route.

Croatia Airlines planes continue to fly to all eight European destinations added in 2016 and 2017, and the weekly flights to Saint Petersburg were increased, the press release said.

During this year’s summer flight schedule, seasonal flights to Athens, Barcelona, Lisbon, Venice, and other popular European tourist destinations were reintroduced, and the flights increased in domestic traffic as well, Croatia Airlines added.
