Government representative in the parliament rejected on Friday all 380 amendments the opposition submitted to the proposed bill on constructing the floating terminal for liquefied natural gas on the northern Adriatic island of Krk, dubbed Lex LNG.
Out of 380 submitted amendments, 360 came from the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and were designed to obstruct the passing of the bill. The party mainly demanded certain words to be struck from the bill in protest over the ruling majority’s decision to discuss the bill under fast-track procedure instead of giving it two readings.
Other parties who also submitted amendments to the bill were the Most party and the Zivi Zid party.
The Social Democrats warned about the damage that they believe the floating LNG terminal would cause the island of Krk, tourism, and the environment.
The parliament is expected to vote on the so-called Lex LNG next Wednesday.
