The Istria County tourism board and the Bayern Munich football club have recently signed an agreement to take part in eight cross-promotion projects.

The agreement will allow Istria’s tourist board to use three of Bayern’s players to promote Istria as a tourist destination, and Istrian cities will be advertised on the football club’s website. On the other hand, some of Bayern’s teams will conduct pre-season preparations in Istria.

There will also be at least one football match between Bayern Munich’s veterans and a local team. The agreement was signed by Bayern’s head of marketing, Andreas Jung, and the head of Istria’s tourist board, Denis Ivosevic.

“Germany is our most important and largest tourist generating market, and the province of Bavaria certainly accounts for the largest share in that. On the other hand, Istria is a tourist destination that is changing dynamically, and is constantly working to raise its level of quality,” Ivosevic said, and added that choosing the Bayern Munich football club to forge a marketing partnership was a logical decision because it is one of the world’s biggest football clubs that has fans around the globe.

Bayern is Germany’s biggest football club, with 28 German championship titles, five European Cup and Champion league titles, and 18 German cup wins.
