Croatia will pay slightly over HRK 31 million (€4.2 million) for NATO membership this year, the government said on Thursday in its response to a query by MP Ivan Vilibor Sincic who was wanted to know the cost of Croatia's obligations toward NATO.
The government said that the amount is determined on a par with the economic strength of an individual country, which is usually determined as a share of its gross domestic product (GDP) or gross national income (GNI), and is re-calculated each year.
This year the amount paid for NATO by Croatia is nearly 31.1 million kuna (€4.2 million).
“The said funds for NATO have been secured in the 2018 state budget, grouped within international membership fees earmarked for the Defence Ministry (24.7 million kuna or €3.3 million) and the Foreign Ministry (6.4 million kuna or €866,000),” the government said.
