Ferragosto JAM music festival kicks off in Slavonia

This year's edition of Ferragosto JAM, Croatia’s biggest continental summer festival, began on Wednesday near the beautiful Orahovacko Lake in eastern Croatia, and will last until August 5.

What began eleven years ago as a casual get-together between friends, with barbecue and an improvised stage, has over time become the biggest music festival in the eastern Croatian Slavonia region, and one of the biggest music festivals in the country.

Hosting only local and regional performers, who play rock, punk, hip-hop, electronica and similar genres, this year’s edition has the biggest line-up yet, and some 50 artists from all over the region will play on 5 stages.

Punk-rockers Hladno Pivo will kick-off the festival on Wednesday, and the big names of local and regional music scheduled to perform include the one-of-a-kind rock band Let 3, a rockabilly quartet Tyger Lamb, a funk jazz group ManGroove, and the great Darko Rundek, a legendary Croatian singer who will celebrate 20 of his cult album Apokalipso with a spectacular performance Apocalypso Now on Friday.

Some 15,000 people are expected to come to Ferragosto this year, to enjoy good music and a wonderful atmosphere at Orahovacko Lake.

More information on the lineup and schedules can be found on the festival’s website.
