There were some 930 fewer students enrolled in higher education institutions in the fall semester of 2017/2018, compared to the previous academic year, national statistics bureau reported on Sunday.
Some 159,430 students were enrolled in some kind of a higher education institution in the academic year 2017/2018.
Around 57 percent of all students were female, which was a 0.3 increase compared to last year, continuing the trend of women outnumbering men in higher education institutions.
Some 80.6 percent of students were enrolled in universities, 13.8 percent studied in universities of applied sciences, and 4.2 percent in professional higher education schools, while some 1.4 percent were enrolled in art academies, which is in line with earlier trends.
Around 72.7 percent of the students were enrolled full time and 27.3 percent part time. Most of the full-time students (84.6 percent) were enrolled in universities, while some 10.2 percent were enrolled in universities of applied sciences, 3.3 percent in schools of professional higher education, and 1.9 percent in art academies.
