Croatian FM hosts meeting on margins of UN General Assembly

Croatian Foreign Minister, Marija Pejcinovic-Buric, hosted a meeting of ministers in New York on Wednesday from four EU member states including Bulgaria, Greece, Croatia, and Romania to talk about current affairs in Southeast Europe and also on efforts in the implementation of the nuclear agreement with Iran.

According to a press release issued by the Foreign Ministry, the ministers agreed to further strengthen the already successful cooperation within the quadrilateral group which, apart for foreign policy topics, will also focus on other EU affairs.

During her stay in New York, Pejcinovic Buric also hosted a meeting of the Central European Initiative (CEI), which is currently chaired by Croatia.

The meeting was the continuation of talks held in Croatia’s second city of Split in June. They talked about the experience and challenges of the European integration process, and the joint efforts invested in achieving sustainable regional stability.

As the host of the meeting, Pejcinovic-Buric gave a short summary of activities during Croatia’s presidency of the CEI.

Pejcinovic-Buric also attended a high-level meeting on Syria, organised by the European Union, which dealt with response to the crisis in Syria.

She held a number of bilateral meeting on the margins of the UN General Assembly, including those with the foreign ministers of Oman, Bahrain, and Libya.

Earlier this month Pejcinovic-Buric also held a meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
