Serbia remains committed to the European Union-facilitated dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said in New York, the news agency Beta reported on Thursday.

In the talks with the Swiss President Alain Berset at the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session, Brnabic said the dialogue on normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina “is a difficult process that demands a lot of time and patience.”

The dialogue is currently on hold, after the last session in Brussels in early September, during which presidents of Kosovo and Serbia did not hold a pre-arranged tête-a-tête meeting.

Brnabic added that Serbia had implemented significant reforms, but that the issue of Kosovo was especially important for the country’s future.

In the meantime, she told the Belgrade-based Pink television that members of Serbian opposition were also active in New York and were trying to reach as many UN officials as they could across the halls of the UN headquarters, mainly for self-promotion.

Brnabic said she believed that was the same thing Kosovo’s officials had been doing.

“Everyone has the right to visit the UN privately, and there are some representatives of our opposition who are trying to catch UN officials and take a photo with them for their self-promotion,” she added.

However, she said her presence in New York was simply to do “the best possible job for Serbia.”

“I don’t care how many photos I have from here. What is important is what I will take back home and present the citizens with,” Brnabic said.
