Slovenians and Croatians earn the highest average salaries in the countries of former Yugoslavia, while Macedonia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina are at the other end of the scale, with the lowest average salaries in the region, Slovenian statistics bureau reported.

The average take-home pay in Slovenia is €1,082 a month, making Slovenia the only country in the region where monthly salary is over €1,000.

Croatia ranked second in the region. The average take-home pay in Croatia in August this year amounted to €843, which is a 0.9 percent increase compared to July 2018, according to the state statistics bureau.

Slovenia and Croatia are followed by Montenegro, where the average pay in September this year was €512, 0.2 percent up from August 2018, according to Montenegrin statistics bureau Monstat.

The lowest average salaries in the region were in Macedonia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to Bosnia’s statistics bureau, the average net pay for September 2018 was €448, which marked a 1.7 percent increase compared to December last year.

The average net pay in August 2018 in Serbia was €421, according to Serbian statistics bureau, while the statistics from Macedonia showed that the average pay in that country in August this year was €393.
