Croatian tourism industry posted a total of €10.1 billion in revenues in 2018, up from €9.5 billion from the year before, Tourism Ministry said on Friday.
Citing data compiled by the central bank, the ministry said that in 2018 the entire sector had a revenue of €10.097 billion, or 6.4 percent up from €9.493 billion in 2017. In Q4 2018 alone, tourism revenues totalled €852 million, or 5.6 percent up year-on-year.
“Last year, tourism revenue earned from foreign visitors was over €10 billion for the first time ever. When income from domestic tourists are added, the revenues were €12 billion, which is an excellent result,” Tourism Minister, Gari Cappelli, said in a press release.
According to the latest available calculations of the Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) – an indicator of the economic impact that the sector has on the country’s GDP – the total tourist spending by both domestic and foreign visitors was €10.4 billion euros in 2016, and the sector accounted for 16.9 percent of Croatia’s GDP.
