Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister Ana Brnabic met with European Union High Representative Federica Mogherini prior to the start of the Western Balkans summit in Berlin on Monday.

An N1 reporter in Berlin said that the meeting in the European Commission offices began with the Serbian tradition of Easter eggs being presented and tapped.

Commission spokeswoman Maja Kocijancic tweeted photographs of Mogherini shaking hands with Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and Bosnia-Herzegovina Council of Ministers Chairman Denis Zvizdic.

„We had good talks and it seems that were are in full agreement about the importance of continuing the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue. We said that we are ready to continue the dialogue tomorrow as soon as the tariffs are revoked but whether that happens or not does not depend on us,“ Vucic told reporters after the meeting.

He voiced doubts about a solution being found in Berlin. „I told Mogherini, you see me smiling like never before because you have pushed Serbia into a corner. You have brought us to a position from which we have no way out and now we have to defend ourselves and protect the country. We have nothing else,“ he said.

Vucic said Serbia is opposed to changes of borders but proposed the idea of demarcation in order to talk about solutions, adding that a solution won‘t be found without a compromise.
