Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic on Sunday commented on the arrest of a woman suspected of starting a large wildfire in Sibenik-Knin County the day before, saying it was important that everyone responsible was brought to justice.
Speaking to the press in Dubrovnik, he thanked the firefighters who were engaged in putting out the fire and said the whole system had functioned well. The most important thing is that there were no victims, he added.
“The fire was big and we had several injured firefighters, whom I wish a swift recovery. There was no major damage to houses and business facilities,” Plenkovic said, adding that the army had been engaged too. “The system responded very well despite the extent of the fire and strong winds.”
Interior Minister Davor Bozinovic visited the site earlier in the day. He thanked everyone who helped to put out the fire, recalling that almost 200 firefighters had been engaged.
