The self-propelled cutter suction dredger Willem van Rubroeck, the most valuable asset in the bankruptcy estate of the Uljanik shipyard, has been sold for HRK 794 million (€107.3 million) at a public electronic auction, Hina learned from sources close to the Pula-based shipyard on Thursday.
Although the buyer is not known, it is assumed that the dredger was bought by the Luxembourg-based company Jan de Nul which commissioned its construction.
The Willem van Rubroeck was the fifth dredger and seventh vessel commissioned by Jan de Nul from Uljanik. The agreement on its construction was signed in early 2014.
The sale was ordered by a bankruptcy judge at the Commercial Court in Pazin based on the accepted value assessed by a certified court expert. The total value of the dredger, whose construction was not completed, was estimated at €143.3 million.
Under e-auction rules, the starting price offered in the first round was three-quarters of the estimated value or HRK 794.25 million.
