A 36-year-old man suspected of involvement in an arms smuggling scandal at the Zemunik airbase was placed in police custody on Saturday and will be questioned by prosecutors.

After his questioning, the suspect is expected to be taken to an investigating judge who will decide whether he will stay in custody if the prosecution puts forward such a motion.

The investigation into arms smuggling at the Zemunik airbase has been completed and the case has been referred to prosecutorial authorities, with a total of six people having been reported, including three pilots.

Zadar County Police Department spokeswoman Ivana Grbin told Hina that the 36-year-old suspect, Misel Pavlovic, was suspected of illegal possession, manufacture and procurement of weapons and explosive devices and that the investigation in the case would continue.

The latest report against Pavlovic, which is separate from one filed on November 8, charges him with selling a larger quantity of weapons to 46-year-old Mladen Bencun from Zadar, one of the civilian suspects in the scandal.

Along with Pavlovic, also suspected of arms smuggling are three pilots and two civilians aged 42 and 56. Police have filed reports against all six men.
