In the run-up to the December 12 election in Britain, N1 television's Domagoj Novokmet talked on Wednesday with MP Joshua Garfield, a Labour party candidate for Braintree in Essex, where he hopes to unseat Tory party chairman, James Cleverley.

Asked to comment on latest polls which indicate that the lead of Tories led by Prime Minister Boris Johnson in front of the second-placed Labour party led by Jeremy Corbyn is closing, Garfield said that a hung Parliament looks to be on the cards.

“It is now quite clear that Labour has inched up the polls since election was called. And it’s quite likely that on Friday we’ll be seeing the announcement of a hung parliament. Which means it could lock Boris Johnson out of Number 10, it could stop a hard Brexit, if we can form some form of unity coalition among the opposition parties,” Garfield said.

Garfield went on to explain the Labour party’s campaign platform, described by some as radical because it includes plans to nationalise parts of UK’s large infrastructure companies, and he also commented on the issue of anti-semitism within the Labour party.

One of only seven Jewish Labour candidates slated to run in the general election, Garfield was one of the whistle-blowers who warned of this problem in a BBC programme aired in July.
