The Clinical Hospital Centre (KBC) in the southern coastal city of Split has set up a Centre for Sleep Medicine for Children at the Clinic for Children's Diseases thanks to donations from the Rotary clubs from Split and the nearby towns of Solin and Kastela.

The hospital itself invested HRK 250,000 (€33,780) in furbishing the Centre, while the donations, worth a total of HRK 750,000 (€101,350), were used for the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment and furniture for the Centre that will deal with sleep disorders in children.

The multi-purpose centre is provided with equipment for electroencephalography (EEG), an electrophysiological monitoring method recording the electrical activity of the brain, and it will enable overnight medical examinations called polysomnography for the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders, the head of the paediatrics department, Veselin Skrabic, said earlier this week.

Rotary club activists raised the donations during an 18-month-long campaign. Three years ago, they also raised US$130,000 for the neurosurgery department of the Split KBC.
