The Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HDZ BiH) on Thursday called on Croat voters in that country to cast their ballots for the candidate of the HDZ of Croatia, the incumbent Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, in Croatia's presidential election on Sunday.
“As the President of the Republic of Croatia, Grabar-Kitarovic has persistently advocated the rights of the Croat people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, fighting for their equality and their rights as a constituent people,” the largest Bosnian Croat political party said.
HDZ BiH stressed that Grabar-Kitarovic had insisted on respecting the right of the Croat people in Bosnia and Herzegovina to choose their own legitimate political representatives and their right to be legitimately represented at all levels of government, and had called for amending electoral legislation.
It also noted that the Croatian president had used her position to draw attention to the problems of the Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina during talks with senior foreign officials.
Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina eligible to vote in Croatia’s elections will be able to do so on Sunday at 44 polling stations across the country.
