The value of Croatia's exports of goods in 2019 totalled €15.4 billion, up by 5.8 percent compared to 2018, while imports amounted to €24.8 billion, or 4.5 percent up, state statistics bureau said on Friday. The foreign trade deficit was therefore €9.4 billion in 2019, slightly up from €9.2 billion the year before.
In terms of trading partners, other EU countries accounted for two thirds of the Croatia’s total exports, at €10.6 billion, a 5.6 percent increase year-on-year, and for some 80 percent of its imports, at €20 billion, up by 7.5 percent over the same period.
The value of exports and imports to and from non-EU countries was €4.8 billion (up by 6 percent) and €4.9 billion (down by 6.1 percent) respectively.
Croatia’s overall coverage of imports by exports was 62 percent in 2019, slightly up from 61 percent in 2018.
