In the last 24 hours, 28 more Slovenians have tested positive for Covid-19, and 1,248 people in that country have been diagnosed with this infection since its outbreak, the Slovenian Institute of Public Health said on Wednesday.

Also, there have been five more fatalities, bringing the death toll to 61.

Currently, hospitals are treating 96 Covid-19 patients, and of them 34 are in intensive care wards. Also, 165 patients have been discharged from the hospitals after their recovery. The highest number of the infections, 378, have been in the wider area of Ljubljana.

Health Minister Tomaz Gantar said today that a majority of the patients diagnosed with this infection were the elderly and residents of homes for senior citizens.

The minister said that the authorities have managed to “stablise the curve of the daily rise of infections”.
