In the last 24 hours three new cases of the Covid-19 infection have been reported in Slovenia, and one patient has died, the Slovenian government said on Wednesday as the first results of serological testing show that only 3.1 percent of the population was infected.

Currently 53 Covid-19 patients are receiving hospital treatment, including 14 in intensive care units. There have been two more recoveries in the last 24 hours, which puts the total number of recoveries at 247.

In the last 24 hours 1,449 tests for the coronavirus were conducted and 58,923 in total have been conducted so far. A total of 1,448 cases of the infection have been confirmed and 99 people have died since the start of the epidemic.

Serological testing, conducted on a representative sample over the last two weeks, shows that 3.1% of those tested have developed antibodies to Covid-19, but that does not guarantee that they have developed a more lasting immunity to the disease as that type of immunity was not developed earlier by people infected with other, well-known types of the coronavirus.
