The re-built and expanded border crossing Sot-Principovac on the Serbia-Croatia border, which is expected to help relieve traffic pressure on the major Batrovci and Sid road crossings, opened on Friday, Serbia's customs service said on Monday.
The new crossing will be used by passenger vehicles, buses, and trucks with no cargo. The old crossing before the reconstruction was used by 350,000 passengers and 40,000 empty trucks last year alone.
The re-built crossing – which had been under construction for 18 months – has been expanded and now has two lanes avilable for vehicles. It is one of the nine international border crossings between eastern Croatia and western Serbia..
