Bosnia's coronavirus update: 84 new cases reported, authorities call for caution

The epidemiological situation is getting complex, the authorities in Bosnia's Federation (FBiH) entity said on Friday as they confirmed another increase in new coronavirus infections, the largest after the authorities removed most of the restriction measures to prevent the virus spread a few weeks ago.

According to the FBiH healthcare authorities, of 484 lab tests that were performed over the last 24 hours, 53 were positive for coronavirus, bringing the tally in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina to 1,483.

“The most recent data show the virus is still active and that epidemiological situation keeps getting complex,” said the statement issued by the FBiH Public Healthcare Institute, urging the citizens to obey the measures of personal protection that include wearing of face masks in public and keeping the physical distance.

To date, 992 Covid-19 patients have recovered and 46 have died in the FBiH.

A total of 46,719 coronavirus tests have been performed in the region so far.

Another part of the country, Republika Srpska (RS), recorded 31 new positive cases of 368 coronavirus tests that were performed over the last 24 hours.

To date, the region has recorded a total of 1,780 Covid-19 patients, with 1,233 recovered patients.

The region has so far recorded 119 fatalities caused by the virus.

According to official statistics, Bosnia’s coronavirus tally now stands at 3,273 with 84 confirmed cases in the last 24 hours. 169 Covid-19 patients have died and 2,241 recovered.
