In the past 24 hours Slovenia has registered 15 new cases of the coronavirus, Slovenia's government informed on Tuesday, adding that it would not take Croatia off the list of epidemiologically safe countries.

That brings the total number of people infected with the virus since its outbreak to 1,600 and it is estimated that there are still 101 active cases of the infection. To date 111 deaths have been recorded and currently there are eight patients being treated in hospital for Covid-19, Slovenia’s health ministry informed.

The country’s epidemiologists confirmed that the number of cases in the region is increasing, including in Croatia and Slovenia, however they cannot confirm whether this is a second wave of the disease. According to Slovenia’s Institute for Public Health, Croatia is faring well in reducing the number of cases and trusts that the situation will calm down.

Government spokesman Jelko Kacin said that the Croatian side and infectologists have said that night clubs and discotheques would be in lockdown, hence Slovenia will not take Croatia off the green list of safe countries for the time being.

Kacin however warned Slovenian citizens currently in Croatia to be wary and not to attend large parties and in that way expose themselves to risk, while the Slovenian side would continue to carefully monitor the situation in Croatia.
