Over the past 24 hours 19 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Slovenia, nine more than the day before, the government said on Wednesday, and Slovenian epidemiologists are worried because the infection is spreading in nursing homes again.

Over the past 24 hours 1,112 tests have been done. The number of cases since the start of the epidemic has reached 1,878 and there are 266 active cases at the moment.

There have been no new fatalities so the death toll stands at 111. Sixteen Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, including one in intensive care, the Health Ministry said.

In one nursing home there are 24 cases of the infection, including 15 residents and eight staff, while in the Hrastnik nursing home, there are four staff members and two residents infected with the novel coronavirus.
