Bosnia's coronavirus total passes 8,000

Bosnia has seen another 244 infections with the novel coronavirus in its two semi-autonomous regions, 158 in the Federation (FBiH) and 86 in Republika Srpska (RS), the healthcare authorities said on Saturday. Two Covid-19 deaths were reported in the FBiH in the last 24 hours, bringing the country's death toll to 246.

According to official data provided by the regional healthcare authorities, the country’s coronavirus total now stands at 8,161.

Competent institutions in the FBiH said that 1,044 samples have been tested in this region in the last 24 hours, 73,889 since the epidemic outbreak.

To date, the region has reported 4,450 Covid-19 patients, with 1,823 of those who have recovered, and 97 fatalities. Fifteen patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, leaving 2,530 active cases in this part of the country.

The RS healthcare authorities have performed 600 lab tests in the last 24 hours, 44,135 in total.

So far, 3,607 infections with the virus have been confirmed in the region, with 1,797 patients who have recovered to date, and 144 Covid-19 deaths. The total of 232 patients infected with the virus in RS is hospitalised at the moment.

Brcko District, a separate administrative unit in the north of the country, has reported 104 Covid-19 patients. To date, 23 have recovered and five patients died.
