Letters of condolence were sent to the Kregar family by President Zoran Milanovic, Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic and the Social Democratic Party (SDP), whose Council for the Political System Kregar had chaired over the past year.
Plenkovic said that Kregar would be remembered as a prominent and well-respected expert and professor and an active politician.
The SDP said it would remember Kregar as a very honest, fair and modest person who performed each of his duties responsibly and conscientiously while Milanovic said that as a jurist and university professor, and particularly as a politician and sharp analyst of social and political developments, Kregar never stopped fighting for justice, truth and transparency.
