The European Union Delegation in Serbia said on Friday that the bloc was by far the largest and the most important commercial partner of the country last year, participating in Serbia’s total foreign trade with 63 percent.

The Delegation said that last year the total trade exchange with the country was 24.9 billion Euro, or 250 percent more than a decade ago, at the start of the implementation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA).

In 2019, the EU exported goods and services to Serbia worth 13.6 billion Euro, while Serbia’s export to the block reached 11.3 percent, while in 2009 it was 3.4 billion Euro.

That particularly relates to agriculture, since Serbia exports over half of its products to the EU and benefits from a favourable agriculture trade balance with the bloc of 400 million Euro.

At the same time, the trade with Russia was 2.7 billion, and with China 2.4 billion Euro.

Serbia’s export to Russia and China did not reach a billion Euro – 0.83 billion and 0.27 billion Euro respectively.
