Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said on Tuesday there had been no major information leaks in the JANAF corruption case in comparison with the text messages case or the case of former state secretary Josipa Rimac.

Responding to questions from the press in Rijeka, Plenkovic said the information leaks in the text messages case two years ago and this year’s surveillance breach in the Rimac case were much more serious.

He said the police, the USKOK anti-corruption office and the State Prosecutor’s Office had done a very good job in the case of the JANAF oil pipeline operator.

Asked to either confirm or deny that Economy Minister Tomislav Coric would be sacked, Plenkovic said this was the first time he was hearing about it.

Asked about the double standard in ousting HDZ members who were under suspicion, given that Rimac was ousted immediately and Drazen Barisic, a suspect in the JANAF case, was not, Plenkovic said the two cases were quite different.

He said Barisic suspended his term in parliament, resigned as president of an HDZ county branch and transferred his mayoral duties to a deputy.

Rimac was arrested on May 29 in a wind park scandal along with 12 other people suspected of influence peddling, abuse of office and authority, and bribery.
