North Macedonian health authorities said on Saturday they registered 243 new coronavirus cases in the country, which is the highest single-day number of cases since the breakout of the pandemic.

The new cases were confirmed after testing 1,831 samples for the new coronavirus.

This is the fourth time that number of new cases is higher than 200 since the beginning of the pandemic and is growing for the second day in a row. The authorities said Friday they recorded 225 infected patients, and the previous record was on July 10 with 205 cases, and on July 18 it was 241.

The country’s Health Ministry said they recorded four virus-related fatalities over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths caused by Covid-19 to 753.
