Over the last 24 hours, 2,956 coronavirus tests have been performed in Slovenia, confirming a new daily record of 411 infections, the Slovenian Government said on Sunday.

There are currently more than 3,000 active cases of the coronavirus infection in Slovenia, 149 COVID-19 patients are in hospitals, including 21 who are in intensive care units, and there have been 167 coronavirus-related deaths to date, according to the latest data from the health ministry.

In addition to the high number of new cases confirmed in the last 24 hours, it is concerning that the highest percentage of positive coronavirus tests so far — 13.9% — has been recorded, the government’s COVID spokesman Jelko Kacin said in a tweet.

The government has not ruled out the possibility of declaring an epidemic again if the situation does not improve, as well as tightening existing or introducing new measures.
