Croatian MEP Zeljana Zovko has been appointed deputy chair of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, her office said in a press release on Monday.
Zovko said that the appointment was a great honour and privilege both for her and for the Croatian delegation to the European Parliament.
As the only woman deputy chair of the Committee, Zovko said she would actively promote gender equality in the Union’s foreign and security policy.
Before the appointment, Zovko had participated in the Committee’s work during both of her terms in the European Parliament. She also fills the post of Vice-Coordinator for Foreign Affairs in the European People’s Party.
