Over the past 24 hours, Slovenia has registered 557 new cases of coronavirus infection, and a record 25 fatalities have been reported for the second consecutive day, the Slovenian government said on Monday.
Currently, 868 COVID patients are being treated in hospitals, 135 of whom are in intensive care units, according to the health ministry’s data.
The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases since the outbreak has passed 36,000, and there are over 23,000 active cases.
According to epidemiologists from the government’s expert team, the first results of the tight restrictions could be visible at the end of the week, but four weeks will be needed for the second wave of the epidemic to be put under control, while the measures currently in place could be relaxed sooner than that.
