In the last 24 hours, 7,515 coronavirus tests have been performed in Slovenia, confirming 2,217 new cases of the infection, the Slovenian government said on Wednesday.

There are currently 1,711 Covid-19 patients in hospitals, and 193 in intensive care untis.

The death toll in Slovenia is 605, including 27 deaths over the past 24 hours.

The number of new infections is twice as high as the previous day, and the percentage of positive tests is 29.5%, Slovenia’s Health Minister Tomaz Gantar said this morning on Twitter, and according to him this is a sign that the measures should be stricter.

However, the government disagrees on whether tighter restrictive measures to combat coronavirus should be introduced.

Since the outbreak, there have been a total of 48,934 confirmed cases of the coronavirus infection, 20,712 are currently active, and the 14-day incidence rate dropped to 988.
