A government representative on Monday accepted, in a slightly modified form, a draft amendment to the budget proposed by conservative MP Marijana Petir (Ind.), whereby 1.5 million kuna (€200,000) would be allocated to help 'persecuted Christians and other people in need.'

The funding will be ensured through the redistribution of the funds earmarked for the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry, for the item for development cooperation, State Secretary at the Ministry, Andreja Metelko-Zgombic, said, accepting Petir’s proposal.

Other proposed amendments to the 2021 budget related to the Foreign Ministry were rejected by the government, including the one put forward by the green-left bloc to allocate HRK 30 million more for aid to organisations dealing with development cooperation and humanitarian activities abroad.
