Over the past 24 hours 2,226 new coronavirus infections have been confirmed in Slovenia after 8,063 tests and 43 patients have died due to Covid-19, the government said on Wednesday.

The death toll stand at 1,199. Media said that according to international data, Slovenia ranks first in terms of mortality over the past seven days.

On Thursday, the government will decide on epidemiological measures. Its Covid-19 response team has suggested that all restrictions and the lockdown, which have been in force nearly a month, be extended to next week.
