Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic on Thursday presented new anti-COVID measures whereby cafes and restaurants are going to be closed while food deliveries will be enabled and churches, schools, stores and cultural and entertainment institutions can continue operating with special restrictions.
“The daily number of people infected has today exceeded 4,000 unfortunately which is why a new set of measures to confine the spread of COVID-19 has been presented,” Plenkovic told a press conference after the cabinet meeting on Thursday.
The measures will go into force on Saturday 28 November and will last until Monday, December 21.
All public events and gatherings of more than 25 people are banned while private celebrations can be organised for 10 people at the most.

Casinos, gaming machine facilities and betting outlets are to be closed as well as all fairs and other commercial and tourism events for the promotion of products.
Bakeries can stay open until 10 pm and the sale of alcohol is prohibited between 10 pm and 6 am.
All hospitality facilities are to be closed down except those categorised as hotels and camps where restaurants and catering facilities within them can serve only those guests staying in those premises.
All gyms, fitness centres and sports and recreating facilities are to be closed as well as all amateur sporting events including choirs.
Restrictions limiting audiences to 25 persons and ending at 10 pm do not refer to professional artistic performances and programmes such as theatre productions including orchestras and choirs, cinema projections and museum, gallery and other exhibitions.
