State Secretary of the War Veterans' Affairs Ministry, Stjepan Sucic, has tendered his irrevocable resignation after his inappropriate behaviour in Vukovar, the ministry stated in a press release on Monday.
I apologise to the Croatian general public and to all who were offended by my behaviour and statements, Sucic was quoted as saying, adding that he did not want to be a burden to the government and the ministry.
Shortly after Friday midnight, Sucic was arrested in Vukovar during an inspection of compliance with epidemiological measures in a hospitality establishment.
Vukovar-Srijem police reported on Saturday that during the inspection of adherence to anti-COVID measures they found several persons in a bar in Vukovar, and that they arrested two men for disorderly conduct. One of them was Sucic.
War Veterans Minister Tomo Medved and the head of the prime minister’s office, Zvonimir Frka-Petesic, immediately condemned the incident.
