The German chemical company BASF partnered with the Zagreb-based Rudjer Bošković Institute (IRB) to launch an interactive programme to popularise science among high school students.
The so-called Chemgeneration programme, designed for students aged 14-18, consists of twenty science-themed workshops in which RBI scientists will help groups of students perform 90-minute chemical experiments at the institute’s labs, in an effort to promote interest for natural science.
The experiments will be themed around sustainable development and pollution, and will examine chemical processes involved in recycling various types of material, including water, paper, plastic and metal. The programme is already being implemented in 11 central European countries.
