Croatia is among the seven European countries with the highest negative net migration rate in 2017, according to data published by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
Net migration rate shows the difference between the number of immigrants and the number of emigrants per 1000 persons throughout the year.
In 2017, Croatia's net migration rate was -1.7, reports Vecernji List Daily.
Croatia's negative rate was higher than that of Bosnia and Herzegovina (-0.4), Macedonia (-0.5), and Serbia, where net migration for 2017 was zero, meaning the number of immigrants and emigrants was the same.
In the rest of the region, Slovenia had a positive migration rate of 0.4, as did Hungary, (1.3), and Austria, which was among top seven countries in Europe with a positive net migration rate of 4.8.
The highest positive net migration rates were recorded in Luxembourg (15.5), Cyprus (8.7), and Spain (7.8), while negative migration was highest in Moldova (-9.4), and Lithuania and Latvia (-6.1).
