The leader of the conservative party, Most, Bozo Petrov, commented on the Economy Minister Martina Dalic’s resignation earlier today.
“The fact is that the resignation was handed in, and that speaks for itself. Reminding of the circumstances does not help the fact that the crisis management procedure was compromised,” Petrov said.
Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Martina Dalic handed in her resignation on Monday after the publication of new e-mail correspondence between her and the consultants and lawyers who had worked on drafting the controversial Lex Agrokor bill in early 2017.
Her resignation was announced in a joint news conference on Monday held by her and Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic.
“As far as Most’s role is concerned, it is important to repeat that Most had, and has, nothing to do with the setting up of consultants’ positions (in the management). The published e-mails confirm this,” Petrov said, adding that Most “strongly rejects” all the accusations by the Prime Minister.
In the press conference with Dalic, the Prime Minister, Andrej Plenkovic, said that the external experts were hired with Most’s knowledge and on their initiative.
“Dalic’s statement that her becoming a burden (to the government) is an ‘unbelievable mix of circumstances’ is disgraceful. By stating that those who leaked the communication fragments would be found, she is really saying that the problem is not the content of the correspondence, but the fact that it has become public,” Petrov said.
The Most party was a coalition partner in the incumbent government until April 2017, when it left due to disagreements with the ruling centre-right party, the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).
