Ad agency confirms Savoric's office was used free of charge

The Unex marketing agency confirmed to N1 that they were allowed to use the lawyer Boris Savoric’s offices free of charge for the purpose of filming the Croatian Democratic Union’s (HDZ) campaign ad for the 2016 parliamentary election.

“Considering our acquaintance with Mr Savoric, the Unex Group agency was granted use of their office space free of charge, for the purpose of filming one shot of the campaign ad,” the Unex Group said.

“The office space used by the Savoric and Partners law firm was selected according to the criteria of adequacy and availability (the filming took place on August 15, 2016, a national holiday in Croatia), and the location fit our concept,” the agency added.

They also said the practice was not unusual, and they had other examples of similar cooperation with campaign clients.

“The HDZ did not take part in selecting the location, and (the party) settled all costs for the campaign according to contracts signed with the Unex Group and Unex Media agency,” they said.

On Monday, N1 reported that a campaign ad made by the party for the 2016 parliamentary election, and featuring the HDZ leader and current Prime Minister, Andrej Plenkovic, was filmed at the Savoric & Partners law firm in a business building in Zagreb city centre.

Savoric was previously mentioned as one of the consultants involved in the e-mail group that had drafted the controversial Lex Agrokor bill in early 2017. The publication of e-mail correspondence led to former Economy Minister Martina Dalic to hand in her resignation earlier this month.
