A HRK 50 million (EUR 6,7 million) worth public tender for the inclusion of socially excluded and handicapped children through sport was presented on Sunday in Zagreb.
“We are happy because we could for the first time design such a tender financed out of EU funds for sport and in this way we want to make sport and recreation equally available to handicapped persons, children with development problems and those at risk of being socially excluded,” said Janica Kostelic, the State Secretary for Sport.
The project is a joint endevour of several government institutions. The Minister of Labor and Pension System, Marko Pavic, said he was delighted to be able to support such a “valuable project which promotes unity and equality through sport.”
Through free of charge sport activities, beneficiaries will be able to experience “the spirit of unity and equality in their community” through this project, he said.
He called on schools, faculties, social institutions, local communities ad non-governmental organizations to submit projects that will improve the quality of life of the targeted population.
