After NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Bosnia is not ready for the NATO MAP activation, Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said she was disappointed with NATO’s attitude with Bosnia.

“What disappointed me a bit was the attitude towards Bosnia and Herzegovina. We were among the group of states which lobbied for the Membership Action Plan’s (MAP) activation for Bosnia. As we all know, the MAP activation is far from the membership itself,” Grabar-Kitarovic said.

“Take Macedonia for example, she finished 18 cycles in 18 years. This would help Bosnia immensely with the reforms it implements because it would provide the necessary framework for dialogue between Bosnia and NATO in terms of its future reforms and reconstruction of their defence forces, and harmonization of their entire security system,” she added.

Grabar-Kitarovic also said the MAP would boost the dialogue of peace, stability and prosperity in Southeast Europe.

She said she believed the NATO enlargement is necessary in order to strengthen the fight against terrorism, human trafficking and smuggling of other goods, as well improve security and stability of the region.
