Compulsory pension funds' membership rises to 1.88 million

The four Croatian compulsory pension insurance funds which make up the 2nd pillar of the pension system had a total of 1.88 million members at the end of June 2018, or about 59,400 more compared to June 2017, with their combined assets reaching nearly 95 billion kuna (€12.85 billion) in value, the state's financial services agency (HANFA) said.

The AZ compulsory pension insurance fund had the largest number of insured persons – 651,400, followed by Raiffeisen (564,700), PBZ-CO (350,000) and Erste Plavi (312,700). Compared with May 2018, the number of insurance policy holders increased by 0.23 percent.

A total of 522.5 million kuna (€70.7 million) of net pension contributions was paid into the accounts of the four pension funds in June 2018, an increase of 9.23 percent or 44 million kuna (5.9 million) compared to June 2017.

Since the creation of the four funds about 15 years ago, a total of 70 billion kuna (€9.5 billion) in net contributions has been paid into their accounts.

Total assets under the management of the compulsory pension insurance funds reached 94.94 billion kuna at the end of June 2018, which is 9.6 percent or 8.34 billion kuna more than in June 2017.
